At that stage many people get belittled with others saying things like, “maybe you really don’t want to quit” and for a large portion of the potential quitters out there, they are right. Cigarette smoking is a pleasurable experience for many.

It seems to posses a calming effect when life is hectic, a focus when things need to be pondered about, and yes it does make many people “feel good” to stop and enjoy a quick smoke. And if the person wanting to quit has no ill health effects from their smoking up to this stage in their life, it’s going to be tough to stop something that for them personally is not a problem.

They believe all the stories about possible health problems from their smoking and they sympathize with second hand smoke policies and comply with all the no-smoking restrictions. But when they are on their own turf, they light up without a thought. How to stop smoking is not an issue as these are people who like to smoke!
